Great Product with a Few Minor Issues

I have been using the slow feeder for close to a month now and I can say that it does a wonderful job of slow feeding the DF64 grinder. It allows me to focus on other aspects of my workflow while the DF64 gets a slow steady flow of beans to grind. The end result is a much more consistent grind with minimal fines. The variable speed motor makes dialing in the correct feed speed a breeze and the build quality seems solid for a 3D printed component.

Overall, I believe that Crema Loop has a winner here.

However there are a couple areas I think could use some improvements to deliver a better product. Unfortunately some of this stems from this product being 3D printed. As with most 3D printed objects, the fit and finish isn't as perfect as it could be and can be rough in some spots. While its not by any means terrible, it doesn't look or feel as good as products manufactured by other methods and you only notice up close.

The biggest issue I had was fitment between the adapter, to and from the slow feeder and grinder. Out of the box the adapter fit fairly secure to the slow feeder but the adapter was a bit loose into the DF64 feeding ramp. This caused the slow feeder to rotate as the grinder was running. I was able to fix this with a little bit of tape on the adapter lip to create additional tension. A loose fit eventually occurred between the adapter plate and the slow feeder, which also required tape to create a more secure hold. This is probably the biggest caveat that I would love to see improved.

A couple other items I would like to mention is the durability and use of 3D printed plastic for a food item. The white version stains slightly over time with beans going through the process. There may be no concern here from a health standpoint but I wonder if there are better plastics that can be utilized in a different manufacturing process. In order to produce a product that feels more refined and is easier to clean.

With that said, I love that this item is made in house in Switzerland and it's well thought out and engineered. I rarely have any issues with beans stopping the feeding mechanism and it almost always feeds every single bean without intervention. It has improved my workflow and espresso tremendously and I highly recommend it.
